The Anaesthesiology Department at the National Institute of ENT (NIENT) plays a crucial role in ensuring safe and effective anaesthesia management during surgical procedures. The department is dedicated to providing high-quality perioperative care, pain management, and emergency care services to patients undergoing various ENT and head-neck surgeries.

Services & Activities
✅ Preoperative Assessment & Patient Evaluation

Comprehensive pre-anaesthetic check-ups (PAC) to assess patient fitness for surgery.

Identification of potential anaesthetic risks and development of individualized anaesthesia plans.

Counseling patients and their families about anaesthesia procedures and postoperative care.

✅ Anaesthesia for ENT Surgeries

Administration of general anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia, and monitored anaesthesia care for surgeries such as:

Cochlear Implant Surgery

Head & Neck Tumor Surgery

Micro-ear and Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Laryngeal and Tracheal Surgeries

Skull Base Surgery

✅ Pain Management & Postoperative Care

Monitoring and management of patients in the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

Administration of analgesics and nerve blocks for postoperative pain relief.

✅ Emergency & Critical Care Services

24/7 anaesthesia support for emergency ENT surgeries and trauma cases.


✅ Training & Academic Activities

Provides hands-on training for postgraduate medical students in anaesthesia.

Conducts workshops and seminars on advanced anaesthesia techniques and airway management.

Active participation in multidisciplinary team discussions and research projects.
